Narnia 1979 (Part 9)

Here’s some extra screencaps from the special I couldn’t find a place for. The first three are from the Stone Table scene. Melendez’s Pevensie kids didn’t stand the test of time, in a design sense, for me; but the spooky creatures remain vividly creepy even today. It helps that these caps are colorful and clean.

These hags remind me of the three Fates: Clotho, Achesis, Atropos.

A motley bunch.

This scene still makes me catch my breath a little. For a children’s show of that time it’s so CRUEL.

Aslan gives a talking-to to the witch. Before the scene above, obviously.

Original cell showing Edmund with the statues in the witch’s castle courtyard and Fenris Ulf apprehending him. It looks like the wolf has wings on his ears, but that’s just a statue behind him. A winged tiger or cat if you look closely. Not a creature mentioned in the book.

The march to battle the witch’s armies. They don’t seem very prepared. Note the pair of moose.
