A Tibetan translation of LWW. Note how the illustration resembles a Buddhist thangka in style if not subject matter.
The illustrator must have read the book too, because we have leopard courtiers holding a banner and throne, an oddly cowlike satyr’s head, a unicorn and flying horse (even though they weren’t mentioned in the text, only in Pauline Baynes’ drawings) and some naiads/nymphs, one of whom is playing a dram-nyen, a Tibetan lute. And Aslan of course, who is orientalized into more of a Foo Lion.
The White Witch hovers at the top right, holding her wand and a wavy-bladed kris sword.. Localization at its finest.
